Ireneusz Ślipek was the guardian of the Jewish Cemetery in Warta for over 20 years. He recovered over 1,000 matzevot, which he personally collected and returned to the Jewish Cemetery. In spite of harsh adversities in life, and a resistance of the local community and the authorities, he refused to give up. He fulfilled his task of taking care of this cemetery with passion and a sense of mission. He was a person who inspired and encouraged us to continue our work. He died suddenly on 4th May 2006 after another day of hard work in the cemetery. In this simple way, we wish to pay homage to this man with such a caring heart.
